This past week the Facebook Developers Conference opened my eyes. Facebook wants more of your time. Are you spending time in Social Media? Too Much time? The right time! Are you working or playing? I constantly ask myself these questions. Is this a good thing?
A number of people are on FaceBook and its crazy to me that people have the time to post comments all day. If I talk its quick and to the point. If Facebook went down would it throw a whole new curve into your day? Do you use Facebook for business? Do you post items there are are you feeding multiple social media channels?
I guess my point is all of us need to keep our focus, especially those of us using these tools to make sure we are seeing added value in communications by listening and reporting and reporting valuable information. Also, if it is for fun, that we keep that in perspective.
Google Buzz is also a good example. Are you aware that 95% of the communication is robotic. That means most of the conversations are being passed from other applications. How real is that for communication. I would like to disable this account, but your profile is gone. See note from Google Settings
Disable Google Buzz |This will disable Google Buzz in Gmail and delete your Google Profile and Buzz posts. It will also disconnect any connected sites and unfollow you from anyone you are following.
Learn how to use Social Media the right way. This does take time and effort and will help you become a better communicator in the process. Keep your conversations real…Don’t be part of the noise. People will respect you more and you will improve your communications.
What are some ways you use your time in Social Media to maximize and improve communication? Would be interested in learning what others have done.
