Have you gone in and toured another company lately? What are you waiting for? You
This is so critical to our success. We can learn so much by taking the time to learn more about other companies and the way they service their clients. Just in the last year, I have visited with companies like Hayneedle, PayPal , LinkedIn and the Institute for Culinary Arts
In each case, I learned a little more about the people, culture and service. All of these companies have headquarters in Omaha. This may be a surprise to some of you, even in Omaha.
Hayneedle’s CEO is the former CEO of Walmart.com, Carter Cast. Their culture is built on fun. They have kitchens and sporting rooms throughout their company.
PayPal’s location in Omaha is one of only four Operations Centers in the United States. The building operates 24 hours and has unique artwork.
LinkedIn offers classes to people who want to work on their profiles.
The Institute for Culinary Arts is one of the highest respected companies in the midwest and has a restaurant which serves lunch and dinner. Reservations are required.
In all of these cases, it was a matter of contacting the company and finding the right resource to give a tour and talk about their company. By visiting these companies, you not only learn more about them, they also begin to recognize your company. Visiting ranks right up there with networking, in some cases even higher.
Check it out in your own city and see what information you will come away with.
