Time Spent on Social Networks

Are you spending more and more of your time on social networks?

Today in the USATODAY is an interesting article. ” Time spent on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube grows”

Could you have ever imagined a time where everyone has to check their voice mail, email,  mail and facebook news or twitter news to see what is happening. It is crazy.   One statistic really hit me, 36% of our time on social networks  YIKES!!

Is this a fad, I don’t think so.  Should people take it seriously, yes! How much time should you spend on these networks? It said over 50% play games.  Sorry, I was just never the gaming type and I get hundreds of Farmville invitations a day.

I really believe people are in search for great information:  interesting stories, helpful tips, great information   personal achievements.   When we find this type of information, we are really drawn in to the conversation.   Social networks allow us to tell our stories with more emphasis from a human element.

It’s also the fun toy right now.  Pull-out your smart phone and communicated instantly with people and tell them about a particular event or item.  See last paragraph.

In any case, all of us need to use this technology with the right “ethics” and highest regard. Also, its really up to all of us to make ourselves more interesting to each other.  It’s a fun era to be in and hopefully the tools will continue to help all of us be better communicators in the future.
