Food Waste – A Problem with opportunities for change

food wasteMaking more effective use of the way we prepare and eat our food. When it comes to food, the current dialogue talks about whether the food is organic or not organic. Also, the talk of ingredients and preservatives also comes up quite a bit. People are always looking at food as good or bad. In the meantime, many Americans are on food stamps and are looking for their next meal.

As a country with so many freedoms and technologies to produce the most food in the world, we are also the most wasteful. Check out this video and look at the amount of food that is wasted on a daily basis.

Now, take a look at a company that is taking food scraps from different businesses: restaurants, hotels, food processors and creating meals for thousands of people.

Their motto: “We use food as a tool to strengthen our community” Maybe, if we really looked at this issue from the waste side, we could develop more ways to use our precious resource of food in a more efficient and effective manner.
