For me, clover is really a tough weed to combat. I have never taken the time to find a product specific to clover and my experience with typical weed killers is that it does not work that great. The issue with clover, is that its root system is so thick that it really tends to take over a particular area in a hurry.
My best advice for dealing with clover is the following:
- If clover has taken over your entire lawn, I would seek the service of a professional lawn company to determine what type of options are available.
- If you have a few isolated spots, take a shovel and dig up the entire area and replace the area with fresh sod. You will save yourself a lot of time and headaches and in the process, you will get rid of the clover root system once and for all. Spring time is the best time to perform this type of task, when temperatures are relatively cooler and better for establishing sod.
