Trees, Leaves and Fall Fertilizer Application

Fall Leaves, Trees and Fertilizer ApplicationI came  across this video this week, “Fall Fertilizer Applications and Leaf Cover“  – It really gives some good tips for making the most of your fall fertilizer application.  Below are a few of the highlights from the video. It is a short, to-the-point video. If you have trees and you battle leaves each fall, it is worth watching.

  • Clean off lean cover – This will help minimize snow mold in the winter.
  • Mow nice and low in the fall  – This will help the fertilizer get into the soil
  • Also, as you remove leaves around your trees you are removing some of the valuable nutrients that they provide to trees. It is a good time to add nutrients deep into the soil to help promote good root development around your trees.
