Original Post

Foursquare – Have you heard of it? Some of you social media types are on it all of the time.  It’s the new adult geolocation  site which tells your friends where you are, where you have been, tips, check-ins, etc.

Now for those of you trying to make a name for yourself. A couple of suggestions – 1) sign-up your company 2) do not be the mayor of your own company.

1) Sign-up for your company is as easy as claiming your business at http://www.foursaqure.com/businesses

2) Do not be the mayor of your own company. This is plain wrong. My friend Will Scott wrote about this in a recent blog post.  Check out his blog post  Foursquare Mayor Competition: Leveling the Playing Field Have some sort of policy that employees and owners cannot become the mayor. The last thing you need is bad publicity about your company. Even-though  I am currently listed as mayor, I sent a message to foursquare support and Ian from foursquare  told me that the next few people to check-in would become the new mayor.   It’s ok in the beginning when you are learning and giving your company some exposure online, just know when to stop when your clients start coming.  By the way, foursquare support rocks!!! Just send an email and a reply will be sent to you in minutes. WOW!!! Very Impressive!

I really think the foursquare identity is great for the local businesses to get into.  Make sure to check out our site and look for the most recent promotion just starting today for Midwest Laboratories on foursquare.
