Web 2.0 is here and its one channel to use to market yourself. One of the trends of Social Media is to become more transparent to others and connect to others. Below is my definition of transparent.
Transparent – When you know you are affective using Social Media in your company! – - Brent Pohlman, February 18, 2010
The true definition is listed below. Notice, no hidden agendas, being truthful and honest. People know who you are and what you stand for. You are human.
Definition of Transparent

Action, method, or procedure that lacks hidden agendas and conditions, and complies with the disclosure requirements of transparency in word and intention.
Transparent over the Years
Thankfully, Midwest Laboratoriees started this process from its inception by communicating its analysis fees to its audience. All prices listed in the current 2009 Schedule of Fees can be viewed online at our MidwestLabs.com website. This was by design. The company philosophy was to allow clients to be able to make decisions based on method and price. If questions arise, discussions can easily be managed because the established price has been posted.
Using Video to Become More Transparent
The area which we are working at is using some of the new tools to become more transparent. In 2010, our goal is to hopefully make use of video presentations more and help you be able to connect names to faces and people. This is a growing area and I have seen a lot of companies have success. Check out Midwest Labs Channel on YouTube
Video – Early Stages – (Will come back to this video later in the year)
You will look at one of my first attempts at video…I hope to get better and not come on as selling too much. I am only posting this one now because we all have to start somewhere. Have a good laugh and I will try to get better in 2010.

Disclaimer
The video you watched here is an attempt by (Brent, Marketing) to better provide clients information regarding Midwest Laboratories. It is a work-in-process and should only be looked at as a way to connect with people. It will get better, it has too. I would invite you to get the “REAL” experience for now, by talking to one of our client services people.
Mention this video blog post when talking to your representative and leave your name/number. I would be curious to know what information you would like to see using the use of video.

Video is a great way to be more transparent, Brent. One of the pitfalls of social media (and any web interaction, really) is that you don’t get the face-to-face connection that you do offline.
Looking someone in the eye (even via web video) and seeing facial movements makes all the difference. Be interesting to see how many “transparent folks” would be willing to appear in front of a camera…
Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated.
I have realy enjoyed going to the sites of otheres who also posted their blogs on your site. http://dannybrown.me/2010/02/18/an-invite-to-pimp-your-blog/ I also really like Headway too. You were the one who introduced me to it.
